Abstract

The phenomenon of endotoxin-induced histamine hypersensitivity in CFW mice was investigated as a possible model system for byssinosis. In the test, endotoxin was detected in cotton bract extracts. Aqueous cotton bract extracts were not sufficiently potent as histamine inducers to activate the hypersensitivity system.
