Desorption efficiency determination methods for styrene using charcoal tubes and passive monitors

Abstract

Activated charcoal is a frequently used substrate for the collection of organic vapors for analysis; both charcoal tubes and passive organic vapor monitors use activated charcoal. Each batch of activated charcoal has an independent desorption efficiency curve for each organic analyte. Desorption efficiency may be defined as the percent of analyte desorbed from a collection medium by a desorbing solvent.
