Abstract
This paper describes the use of N-o-chlorophenylcinnamohydroxamic acid for the extractive spectrophotometric determination of vanadium in complex materials. The bluish-violet complex extracted in chloroform, obeys Beer's law in the range of 0.8 to 7.0 ppm of vanadium. The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity are 6500±50 L·mol−1cm−1 and 0.0078 µg cm−2 respectively. The reagent is highly sensitive, selective and free from common interferences including iron.
