Abstract
Resolution of particle size in spinning duct aerosol centrifuges can be optimized for a given aerodynamic diameter particle size range by proper selection of total flow rate and rotational speed. Lower total flow rates and higher rotational speeds favor resolution of particles of less than 1 µm aerodynamic diameter. Higher total flow rates and lower rotational speeds favor resolution for larger particles. Under any conditions, resolution is improved when relative aerosol sampling rate is decreased.
