Abstract

One dilemma industrial hygienists may face is not being able to define their career plans. This frequently stems from: lack of IH hierarchies in industry or elsewhere; lack of understanding of personal interests and aptitudes and; haphazard selection of the next career enhancement. A progress report is given on the industrial hygiene hierarchy being established at IBM, including explanation of some of the steps taken in developing it. Performance and career development planning programs are described as they pertain to the career field of industrial hygiene.
