Abstract
The performance of an in-line aerosol dilutor, consisting of a stainless steel capillary tube within a standard 47-mm Gelman filter assembly, was evaluated. The dilution ratio was found to be weakly dependent on particle size and flow rate. A theory was developed to predict the dilution ratio based on the pressure drop across the dilutor. The agreement between the theory and the data was good and within ± 10%.
