Abstract
Interest in the elongational flow behavior of fluids and the effects of the elongational flow regime on the development of structure and morphology has increased rapidly in recent years. There are several processes involving elongational flow of polymeric materials, but the scope of this review will be primarily restricted to the elongational deformations involved in the process of fiber extrusion. Other processes will be mentioned briefly.
