Distance Education: Online Courses Expand for Library Personnel

Pages 325-330 | Published online: 06 Aug 2009

Abstract

Distance education has flourished as demand by students for online learning has increased and the technology to provide it has improved. The American Library Association has accredited 14 online Master's level Library Science programs. Distance Education is now integrated into many 2-year and 4-year college academic curriculum requirements. Postgraduate online continuing education opportunities have grown. Online learning communities such as WebJunction, offer library personnel several ways to maintain and improve their library skills.
