Online Resources for Teaching Seniors to Find Health Information on the Internet: From Basic Computer Skills to Consumer Health

Abstract

Because seniors have increased medical problems and low health literacy, they need consumer health classes in which they are taught to access easy-to-read and reliable health information on the Internet. However, many older adults must first overcome challenges with technology, namely inexperience. Therefore, the following bibliography was compiled to assist librarians in teaching the elderly to search for health information online. This bibliography includes senior health sites that are easy to understand and navigate, and Web sites that provide activities for teaching seniors basic computer and Internet skills.
