Improving the Library Internet Connection

Pages 132-138 | Received 04 Aug 2009, Accepted 02 Oct 2009, Published online: 19 Apr 2010

Abstract

The impact of the Internet and access to such limitless information has challenged the way that patrons search for information. Efforts to close the gap between library science and computer science are ongoing. An important component of that is to make the necessary changes in the organization of how information is communicated to the community that the library serves. It is necessary to look at how patrons search for information, and how the library facilitates that quest and educates patrons in the use of resources that they didn't know existed.
