The standard defines ingest as “the OAIS entity that contains the services and functions that accept Submission Information Packages from Producers, prepares Archival Information Packages for storage, and ensures that Archival Information Packages and their supporting Descriptive Information become established within the OAIS.” Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems, Reference Model for an Open Archival Information System, p. 1–11.

7. CCSDS standards routinely undergo a five-year review, and the process is now complete. Changes included “numerous small clarifications … [including] improved treatments of Authenticity, Information Properties and a new PDI [Preservation Description Information] category for Access Rights.” The revised version will be available by the end of 2009.
