A Crisis Intervention Team Program: Four-Year Outcomes

Abstract

Crisis intervention training has become a popular strategy to educate first responders about mental illness and techniques to safely and effectively de-escalate individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. This article presents outcomes of the first four years of a Crisis Intervention Team program in St. Louis, Missouri. Findings of this evaluation suggest that the Crisis Intervention Team program is effective in diverting individuals in crisis to treatment.
