Abstract
This paper examines the changes which have taken place in Christian higher education in today s world and concludes that what has occurred not only often undermines Christian higher education, but also places it in a state of crisis. Building on the Chinese term for crisis, which consists of one character meaning danger and another meaning opportunity, both the dangers for Christian higher education and the opportunities are explored. Although particular emphasis is placed on Asia, the threats and possibilities have international significance and set the stage for a reevaluation of Christian higher education s potential and a revitalization of institutions that are committed to higher education with a Christian orientation. It is apparent that, while new approaches are necessary, viable forms of Christian higher education can continue to play a significant role in meeting the educational challenges of today.
