Abstract
The synthesis, isolation, characterization, functionalization and application of furan‐like bridged dimeric fullerene oxides are reported. A synthesis of C130O in yields of 20% is presented. A preparation of highly pure, soluble mono‐, bis‐ and tris‐adducts of a diazoalkane addition reaction and a Bingel cyclopropanation reaction on C120O in preparative amounts using conventional laboratory methods is reported. A synthesis of regio‐controlled mono‐ and bis‐functionalized C120O, C130O and C140O derivatives in yields of more than 10% is presented. C120O, C130O, C140O and the mono‐adducts of the diazoalkane addition reaction and the Bingel reaction on C120O are characterized by thermogravimetric analyses, ultraviolet‐visible‐spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The application of the mono‐adduct of the diazoalkane addition reaction on C120O as electron acceptor in a bulk‐heterojunction solar cell is reported.
