Abstract

Sorbents based on silica containing fullerenols were obtained. Fullerenols having a different number of hydroxyl groups were incorporated in silica by two methods: solid-state reaction in a vacuum unit and a two-step synthesis using dimethyldicholorosilane and a tertiary amine. The sorbents obtained were proven to be highly selective for low-density lipoproteides (LDL) from blood plasma and can be used in plasmapheresis, in particular, for efferent therapy of atherosclerosis.
