Abstract

Effect of fullerenes C60 on dielectric relaxation and electric conductivity of nematic liquid crystal 4-methoxybenzylidene-4'-butylaniline (MBBA) is investigated. It is shown that the inclusion of fullerenes into liquid crystal leads to decreasing of the clearing temperature and the order parameter. In this case, the longitudinal component of the real part of dielectric permittivity increases while the transverse component and the absolute value of dielectric anisotropy decrease. The capture of moving ions by fullerenes leads to a decrease of electric conductivity.
