Any opinions expressed in this paper are those of the authors and are not necessarily those of Educational Testing Service.

This is a commentary on “Self-Monitoring Assessments for Educational Accountability Systems,” by Daniel Koretz and Anton Béguin.

Notes

1Note that any computerized adaptive test has to be equipped to prevent test security problems by, for example, having a large item pool of a variety of items. In addition, the IRT model used with such a test has to be appropriate.

2Also see CitationBejar (2010), who suggested the use of the duplex design proposed by CitationBock and Mislevy (1988).
