A System for Exposing Biological Objects to Variable Combinations of Electric and Magnetic Fields

Abstract

A simple system with rectangular geometry for exposing various biological objects to low-frequency electromagnetic fields is described. The electric-field distribution between two parallel rectangular plates is evaluated numerically by the finite-difference method. A closed-form spatial solution for the magnetic field distribution produced by a coil of rectangular cross section is developed. These analyses are tested experimentally.
