Abstract
A 10½‐year‐old boy in residential treatment who was exhibiting severe anger and anxiety control problems in the classroom was treated with stress inoculation training. The program was specifically tdilored to provide this youngster with the skills needed to cope with the stress he experienced when presented with “difficult”; academic assignments. Results indicated a marked decrease in the frequency and severity of his angry outbursts. The potential usefulness of stress inoculation with children and suggestions for future research in the area are discussed.
