Abstract

This article is concerned with the investigation of the generalized magneto-thermoelasticity in an orthotropic non-homogeneous continuum solid with a spherical cavity under thermal stresses. The material used is an elastic and has an inhomogeneity in the radial direction considering the effect of thermal stresses, magnetic field as well as thermal relaxation time. The boundary conditions have been applied for stresses and temperature. The solution for displacement, stress components, and temperature has been obtained by using an integral transform technique. Comparisons are presented to verify the accuracy of the present model with the results obtained previous by others. The effects of the inhomogeneity, relaxation time, and magnetic field on the temperature, stresses, and displacement are computed analytically and displayed by graphs. The results obtained indicate to the strong role for the external parameters in the thermal stresses phenomenon and agreement with the practical results.
