Abstract
The state of Wisconsin was one of four states awarded a Go Local contract by the National Library of Medicine shortly before the national program was discontinued. This article describes an unusual perspective on the local and institutional context necessary to initiate a Go Local project, as well as the planning and groundwork an academic medical center library, its partners, and stakeholders needed to undertake before the project could begin.
