The 20th International Symposium on Advanced Display Materials and Devices (ADMD 2016) was held at Shanghai University, Jing'an District, Shanghai, China on October 19–21, 2016.
The forerunner of ADMD, “International Symposium on Liquid-Crystalline Materials and Devices (LCMD),” started by the collaboration between Professor Tomiki Ikeda of Tokyo Institute of Technology (at present, Chuo University), Japan and Professor Lee-Soon Park of Kyungpook National University (at present, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology), Korea in 1997. In 2004, therefore, the name of the symposium was changed from LCMD to ADMD to include these advanced display devices, and the publication of the proceedings of ADMD was started as a special issue of Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals. In 2016, ADMD has gone through 20 years and it was a remarkable memory. The science and technology of flat-panel displays (FPDs) have been remarkably advanced over the past decade to realize commercial production of new type of FPDs like PDP, OLED, QLED in addition to LCD.
Over 200 people attended ADMD 2016 and 130 participants made presentations, including 6 plenary lectures, 39 invited lectures, and 85 posters. The number of lectures and poster papers were in the order of OLED materials and devices, LCD materials and module, QLED and TFT, and other advanced displays. The papers presented in ADMD 2016 reflect the trend of research and development in displays and were praised to have close relationship with the industry. Meanwhile, an enterprise forum of advanced display technology was organized in ADMD 2016.
ADMD 2016 was organized by Key Laboratory of Advanced Display and System Applications (Shanghai University) Ministry of Education and co-organized by EverDisplay Optronics (Shanghai) Limited, Shanghai Industry-University-Research Cooperation Center for New Materials and Applications, and Shanghai University Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Flat Panel Display. ADMD 2016 was sponsored by Shanghai Tianma Micro-electronics Co. Ltd, Borris Heavy Industry Co. Ltd, Shanghai OLED Industry Alliance. We highly appreciate their supports.
