The chromatic shift of 1-D photonic crystal films with swelling time due to chiral amine ester ionic liquids

, &

ABSTRACT

Most photonic crystal films have been studied with various ionic liquids. The object of our research was to examine the expression of one-dimensional lamellar photonic crystal color with different chiral amine ester ionic liquids. The reflection colors of the photonic crystals were measured using UV-visible spectroscopy. One-dimensional lamellar photonic crystals were generated from polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinylpyridine) (52K–57K) dissolved in tetrahydrofuran. Chiral amine ester ionic liquids were synthesized from l-alanine tert-butyl ester hydrochloride. These were complexed with bis(trifluoromethane)sulfonamide lithium salt. The annealed photonic films were swelled with the ionic liquids. The color development was rather slow and changed with swelling time.
