Enhancement effects of metal nanostructures and metal nanofilms on various emissions by interactions of photons with materials or molecules

, &

Abstract

Interactions of photons with materials or molecules are very important in many fields of science and technology including energy conversion, photonics, biotechnology, diagnosis and medical treatments, information, environments, etc. In order to further increase the conversion efficiency and sensitivity, metal nanofilms and metal nanostructures are very useful owing to surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR). We will summarize briefly effects of SPR and LSPR on various emissions from molecules such as fluorescence, phosphorescence, up-converted fluorescence, and Raman scattering.
