Tuning plasmonic colors of Ag nanodomes by the arrangement of polystyrene beads template

, ORCID Icon & ORCID Icon

Abstract

We report changes in optical properties of Ag nanodomes depending on the arrangement and the surface coverage of polystyrene (PS) beads used as templates. By increasing the surface coverage of the PS beads, the reflective colors of Ag nanodomes are turned from yellow to purple accompanying with the red-shift of the resonant wavelength observed in the reflection spectra. The significant changes in the optical properties occurs when the surface coverage of Ag nanodomes is increased from 50% to 60%. The angler dependency of the reflection spectra indicates that the plasmonic mode of Ag nanodomes switches at these surface coverages.
