Syntheses, structures and luminescent properties of Sm(III) and Dy(III) coordination polymers with two organic dicarboxylates

Abstract

Two coordination polymers [Sm₂(3,5-pdc)(1,2-bdc)₂(H₂O)₄]_n (1) and {[Dy₂(3,5-pdc)(1,2-bdc)₂(H₂O)₄]·2H₂O}_n (2) were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The crystal structures were tested by X-ray single crystal diffraction. 1 was 3D porous network structure while 2 was 2D layered structure. They both emitted the characteristic fluorescence of Sm(III) or Dy(III) with ultraviolet light excitations. The lifetimes of excited states for Sm(III) and Dy(III) were measured.
