Syntheses, structures and luminescent properties of Sm(III) and Dy(III) coordination polymers with two organic dicarboxylates

Abstract

Two coordination polymers [Sm2(3,5-pdc)(1,2-bdc)2(H2O)4]n (1) and {[Dy2(3,5-pdc)(1,2-bdc)2(H2O)4]·2H2O}n (2) were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The crystal structures were tested by X-ray single crystal diffraction. 1 was 3D porous network structure while 2 was 2D layered structure. They both emitted the characteristic fluorescence of Sm(III) or Dy(III) with ultraviolet light excitations. The lifetimes of excited states for Sm(III) and Dy(III) were measured.
