Abstract

In this investigation, we describe the preparation of a novel structured semi-interpenetrating polymer networks (SIPNs) of glassy resins, such as PMMA, PVC, polyester, and epoxy and water dispersible PU as cores and shells, respectively. The synthesis process was monitored by FTIR spectroscopy. The size of the particles was varied by the glassy resins. The glass transition temperature and mechanical behavior of the PU SIPNs were analyzed by DMA and UTM, respectively. The mechanical properties of each type of PU Latex SIPNs were shown superior tensile strength and elongation properties compared to the reference PU Latex.
