Abstract
The authors examine radioactive materials used in industrial equipment with reference to their half-lives and emission types. The possible causes and circumstances that transform radioactive materials into radioactive wastes are considered. The authors discuss classification, storage, and disposal of radioactive wastes and outline an Italian regulation that classifies radioactive sources.
