Microwave-assisted alkaline delignification of banana peduncle

ABSTRACT

Banana peduncle is a cellulose-rich biomass with awide range of  potential in various industry. In this work, mild microwave irradiation was employed with alkaline assistance for pretreatment of the banana peduncle. Compositional analysis was studied at various NaOH concentrations at 121ºC for 30min with and without the microwave irradiation. Under these conditions, microwave-assisted alkaline pre-treated samples showed 60.86% delignification at 6.25N NaOH and alkaline pre-treated showed 48.63% delignification at 7.5N NaOH. Crystalline index for untreated, alkaline pre-treated, and microwave-assisted alkaline pre-treated are 34.56%, 50%, and 5.20%, respectively. Microwave-assisted alkaline treatment increased surface exposure in terms of surface area by 98.70%, pore volume by two-fold, and pore diameter by 15.9%.

香蕉花梗是一种富含纤维素的生物质,具有潜在的多种工业前景,本文采用微波温和照射和碱性辅助预处理的方法对香蕉花梗进行预处理.研究了在121ºC条件下,在微波辐射和非微波辐射下,在不同NaOH浓度下30分钟的组成分析。其次,微波辅助碱性预处理样品在6.25N NaOH下脱木素率为60.86%,碱性预处理样品在7.5N NaOH下脱木素率为48.63%。未处理、碱预处理和微波辅助碱预处理的结晶指数分别为34.56%、50%和5.20%。微波辅助碱性处理使表面暴露面积增加98.70%,孔隙体积增加2倍,孔径增加15.9%。
