ABSTRACT

Cotton is the main source of renewable fiber in the world and is primarily used for textile production. This study analyzed 3,856 papers of cotton research from Plant Sciences category during 1990 to 2021 based on the WoS, papers mainly written in English (98.937%), were from 10,536 authors, 87 countries/territories, 1,652 organizations and published in 174 Journals and book series. Top 5 core journals ranked as Weed Technology (207, 5.368%), Euphytica (191, 4.953%), Pakistan Journal of Botany (189, 4.901%), Frontiers in Plant Science (137, 3.553%) and Theoretical and Applied Genetics (114, 2.956%). Top 5 countries and regions were USA, Peoples R China, Pakistan, Australia, and India. Top 5 organizations were USDA ARS, Chinese Acad Agr Sci, Nanjing Agr Univ., Huazhong Agr Univ., and Univ. Arkansas. Top 5 authors are Zhang Xianlong, Zhang Tianzhen, Zhang Jinfa, Jenkins Johnie N. and Jones Don C. All keywords of the cotton research from Plant Sciences category were separated seven clusters for different research topic. Visualizations offer exploratory information on the current state in a scientific field or discipline as well as indicate possible developments in the future. This work is useful for student identifying graduate schools and researchers selecting journals.
