Enzymatic Dyeing of Wool Fibers with Enhancement of Strength Using Laccase as Catalyst

ABSTRACT

Laccase-catalyzed polymerization of catechol on wool yarns was explored in this study, their dyeing performance and physical properties were also analyzed. Wool yarns were pretreated by chemical (Na2CO3) and plasma treatment. Catechol oligomers were then deposited or cross-linked on wool fibers through laccase-catalyzed reaction. It was shown that both chemical (Na2CO3) and plasma pretreatment could promote the subsequent dyeing process. Besides, the capacity of laccase to oxidize catechol was observed by UV-vis spectra. The FTIR spectra and SEM observation confirmed the coating of oligomers on wool. The results show that laccase-catalyzed reaction could be an efficient methodology for the in-situ coloration and performance enhancement in tensile strength, abrasion resistance, alkali solubility and antioxidant activity of wool.

摘要

研究了漆酶催化的羊毛纱线邻苯二酚聚合反应,并对其染色性能和物理性能进行了分析. 采用化学(Na2CO3)和等离子体处理对羊毛纱线进行预处理. 然后通过漆酶催化反应将邻苯二酚低聚物沉积或交联在羊毛纤维上. 结果表明,化学(Na2CO3)和等离子体预处理都能促进后续染色过程. 此外,通过紫外-可见光谱观察漆酶氧化邻苯二酚的能力. FTIR光谱和SEM观察证实了低聚物在羊毛上的包覆. 结果表明,漆酶催化反应是一种有效的原位染色方法,可提高羊毛的拉伸强度、耐磨性、碱溶性和抗氧化活性.
