Phenyl Mercuric Acetate (PMA): Mercury-Bearing Flexible Gymnasium Floors in Schools — Evaluation of Hazards and Controlled Abatement

In the June 2008 article “Phenyl Mercuric Acetate (PMA): Mercury−Bearing Flexible Gymnasium Floorsin Schools—Evaluation of Hazards and Controlled Abatement” by Harry J. Beaulieu, Serrita Beaulieu, and Chris Brown, a unit was incorrectly written as ∼ 0.5 mg/m3 instead of ∼ 0.5 μ g/m3 on page 365, Conclusions and Recommendations section. The corrected paragraph follows. “In a high school with two exposed Tartan brand flexible gymnasium floors and an additional floor encased with a wooden overlay floor, mercury levels in air were ∼ 0.5 μ g/m3 (Ohio−Lumex instrument), or ∼ 0.2 μ g/m3 (NIOSH Method 6009). These mercury concentrations were about 20–50× that of outside ambient air”.
