James Leibold

James Leibold is currently a Lecturer in Asian Studies at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. He has a strong interest in the role of ethnicity, race and national identity in 20th century Chinese history and society. His dissertation research, completed in 2003 at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, explores the discourse of minzu (race/ethnicity) in early 20th century China and the positioning of China's ethnic minorities in the construction of Chinese nationalism. It will be published by Palgrave MacMillian in 2006.
