Ping Yao

Ping Yao 挑平 is Associate Professor of History at California State University, Los Angeles. She received her Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1997) where she completed a dissertation, titled Women, Love, and Femininity in the Writings of Bo Juyi. Her monograph on Tang women, «唐代担女的生命周程» (The Life Journey of Women in Tang China) was published in by Shanghai Classic Publishing House 上海古籍出版社 in 2004. Her research articles on Tang practices related to gender have appeared in Journal of Women's History, Journal of Family History, and Xueshu yuekan «学木月刊». She is currently completing a co-authored world history textbook for publication in 2006.
