Xu Youwei

Xu Youwei 徐有威 is Professor of Modern Chinese History in the History Department of Shanghai University, and also Director of the Center for Fascist Studies within the History Department. His main field of interest is Republican History, focusing primarily on bandits and on the role played by the fascist movement in modern Chinese history. His articles have been published in numerous Chinese and international journals, including China Quarterly and Modern China. [[email protected]]

Philip Billingsley

Philip Billingsley is Professor of Chinese History and Culture at Momoyama Gakuin (St. Andrew's) University, Osaka, Japan. His interests lie primarily in the “underside” of history, and he has published widely on the topic of bandits in Republican China, often in collaboration with Xu Youwei.
