Pages 3-12 | Published online: 04 May 2011

Abstract

Since 2003, green building regulations have been on a meteoric rise. In 2007, the American Institute of Architects identified 92 communities with populations over 50,000 that had implemented green building programs. Just two years later, in 2009, the number had jumped by about 50 percent to 138 communities, representing a population of 53,427,648 people.
