Abstract
Complete streets. The term neatly summarizes the idea that streets can be safe places for people of all ages and abilities, whether on foot, on bikes, in wheelchairs, or in buses, cars, or streetcars. The idea has taken hold in hundreds of U.S. communities, providing lessons for those considering adopting a complete streets policy. Crafting an ordinance or resolution has the potential to crystalize a community's vision for their streets and provide a guide to implementation.
