Worlds of Devastation: A Phenomenologist's Comments on “Therapeutic Action in Psychoanalysis”

Pages 66-74 | Published online: 24 Apr 2012

Notes

1Wachtel came close to what I want to say here in one of his comments: “There's a third dimension. It isn't only about affect and cognition… . We live in the world. The metaphor of right brain to right brain can sound like two brains in a vat—that's problematic. We live in the world, we interact, we act UPON the world, we act UPON each other, and those change the context within which we live, which shape our affect, shape our thoughts, shape our further actions.”
