Barrie Karp
Barrie Karp, PhD (Philosophy), is an artist, and independent scholar and educator in philosophy, antiracist feminist inquiry, cultural studies and arts, teaching in various New York City colleges and universities since 1970. She is a lifelong student of psychoanalysis. Her artworks include paintings and photography. Topics and issues in her studies include subjectivity and subject formation, representation, looking and being looked at, philosophy of images especially in art and photography in terms of visual memory, aesthetics, reading, affect, and politics.
