Abstract

The pyruvic acid‐salicylhydrazone (H2L, C10H10N2O4 for short) and its new complexes with rare earth(III) were synthesized and characterized by elemental and EDTA volumetric analyses, IR, UV, Excitation Spectra and X‐ray powder diffraction. The results of the bioactivity experiment showed some complexes to exhibit excellent activity against Botrytis cirerea Pers.ex Tris., Alternaria alternata Fries keissler and Puccinia striiformis Westendorp. The new complexes were found to be more active than the chelating agent involved.
