The synthesis of nanosized γ‐Fe2O3 through an electrochemical process in non‐aqueous medium, then calcining at 300°C is studied. The product obtained is characterized by XRD, SEM, Electron diffraction and Particle size distribution analysis, indicating that the fine‐particle is a nanometer γ‐Fe2O3 with a spherical‐shaped, an average size of 22.0 nm. From the VSM (vibrating sample magnetometer) test, the particle's coercivity (49.0 Oe) is rather small, presenting excellent superparamagnetism. Furthermore, the reaction dynamics and mechanism are explored by linear sweep voltammetry (LSV); the rate constants are accordingly determined.
