A pair of isostructural mononuclear Schiff base copper(II) complexes, [CuL2]Cl2 (1) and [CuL2]Br2 (2) (L=2,4‐dichloro‐6‐[(2‐isopropylaminoethylimino)methyl]phenol), have been obtained from the same synthetic procedures and the Schiff base ligand, but with different copper(II) salts. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The Cu atom in each of the complexes is four‐coordinated in a square planar configuration by two phenolate O and two imine N atoms from two Schiff base ligands. The similar copper(II) salts (CuCl2 · 2H2O for (1) and CuBr2 for (2)) used in the preparation of the complexes can result in the similar structures of the final products.
