Synthesis and Characterization of a Novel Lead Complexes with Isophthalyl Bishydrazones

Lead acetate reacts with 2‐pyridinecarboxadehyde isophthalylhydrazone (H₂pcph) giving a dinucleic [Pb₂(pcph)Ac₂] complex. As shown by X‐ray crystal analysis, each lead ion is coordinated by one hydrazide nitrogen, one pyridine nitrogen, one carbonyl oxygen, and one acetate oxygen, giving rise to a unusually N₂O₂ distorted planar square coordination geometry.
