Stoichiometric La0.67Sr0.33MnO3 (LSMO) was prepared by a surfactant assisted hydrothermal method. The cationic surfactant of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) that acts as a soft template was used to control the crystal growth. The as‐synthesized product was characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). It has been revealed that the product consists of rod like ferromagnetic LSMO single crystal nanoparticles. The processing temperature and the alkalinity of the solution have a decisive influence on the morphology, microstructure and growth orientation of the crystallites. All the nanoparticles exhibit room temperature superparamagnetism and discernible magnetic hysteresis at below 250 K.
