Abstract

Transition metal purine complexes were synthesized. These are 3 iron, 5 cobalt, 4 nickel, 5 copper, 2 cadmium, 2 mercury, 2 mixed (Ni-Cr, Co-Cu). The ligands used are: adenine, guanine, adenine schiff base of acetylacetone, adenine schiff base of salicylaldehyde, adenine azo resorcinol. The ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, spectral and thermal measurements. The analytical data of the complexes typified the formation of stoichiometries 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 (M: L). The complexes are with different geometries: square planar, tetrahedral and octahedral. The mode of bonding was identified by IR spectra.

∗All complexes have m.p. more than 360 (0C).
