Abstract

A new 3d-4f coordination polymer, {[Gd2Cu(PDC)2(SO4)2 (H2O)6]·2H2O}n (I), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that I crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P – 1. Unit cell parameters for I are a = 6.354(2), b = 10.027(2), c = 10.244(3) Å, α = 95.054(2)°, β = 95.098(1)°, γ = 99.818(1)°, V = 637.0(4) Å3, Z = 1. The compound is a three-dimensional network structure in which infinite lanthanide-carboxylate chains are linked by [Cu(SO4)2]2 metalloligands to form a mixed-metal coordination network. The magnetic measurements reveal antiferromagnetic behaviors of the compound.
