Abstract

A new Ni(II) metal–organic coordination polymer, {[Ni(mip) (1,6-bth)(H2O)]·H2O}n (1), (H2mip = 5-methylisophthalic acid, 1,6-bth = 1,6-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)hexane), was assembled under hydrothermal condition by the reactions of Ni(II) acetate with H2mip and 1,6-bth. Compound 1 was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The results reveal that compound 1 consists of mip anion-bridged 1D NiII chains that are linked by 1,6-bth into a 2D layer. In addition, the thermal stability of 1 was briefly investigated.
