Abstract

The 5, 6- Diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-asym-triazine-3-thione (DDTT) chelating agent and its Pd(DDTT)2 chelate were synthesized. The nano-chelate was prepared by decreasing the solubility of bulk chelate in its chloroform solution by addition of ethanol. The produced nanoparticles of Pd(DDTT)2 (mean particle size 4.4 nm) were separated by centrifugation. The thermolysis of nano-chelate at 410°C in an air oven gave very fine and porous particles of PdO with a narrow size distribution (2.0–5.7 nm) and the specific surface area (SSA) of 81.2 m2.g−1. The synthesized products were characterized by XRD, TEM, DLLS, BET, TG, and elemental microanalysis. The thermolysis process was optimized using 23 factorial design.
