Synthesis, Crystal Structure, and Characterization of a Novel Twin-Nest-Shaped Supramolecular Cluster Compound [(BPHEP)2(Mo2O2S6Cu6I6)]

Abstract

The crystals of the title compound were obtained from the reaction of (NH4)2[MoO2S2], CuI, and BPHEP·I2 [BPHEP = 1,7-bis(pyridinium) heptane] in DMF solution. The cluster anion consists of two nest-shaped fragments interconnected through a four-membered Cu(I)2Cu ring. The structure of the cluster has been characterized by X-ray diffraction: Triclinic, space group P–1, a = 11.0981(15) Å, b = 11.8488(17) Å, c = 12.2339(17) Å, α = 99.409(2)°, β = 107.125(2)°, γ = 109.213(2)°, V = 1390.0(3)Å3, Z = 2, R = 0.0528, and Rw = 0.0616.
