Abstract

A new metal-organic coordination polymer [Zn(2,4-D)2(bbi)]n (1), based on two flexible ligands, 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-DH) and 1,1′-(1,4-butanediyl)bis(imidazole) (bbi), has been prepared and structurally characterized by IR, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Single-crystal X-ray analysis shows that it crystallizes in the monoclinic space group of C2/c with a = 17.6359(18) Å, b = 22.785(2) Å, c = 7.6070(6) Å, β = 101.7440(10)°, and Z = 4. The 2,4-D is coordinated to the Zn(II) atom as a monodentate ligand. Each bbi bridges two adjacent Zn(II) with its two nitrogen atoms to form a one-dimensional chain. Furthermore, thermal stability and luminescent property of 1 were investigated.
